Time to Spare is a mother-daughter team with extensive experience in event management, organizational life skills, graphic design, website management, writing, and professional photography. 

Time to Spare offers customized Event Management Services, managed by Dana, designed to meet your needs. We provide three levels of coordination, each tailored to help ensure your event runs smoothly and stays on track.

As the original owner of Time to Spare, Debbie’s focus will now be Time To Shine. This new offering includes helping clients learn best practices for managing time to obtain peace in every day, learning steps to successful event planning, and interactive speaking sessions covering a variety of topics.

  • Deborah McVay Williams, formerly McVay McKinney, was voted #1 by readers in the 10th Annual Akron Life Best of the City awards as Best Author and Best Entrepreneur for her company, Time to Spare, LLC, a corporate and non-profit event planning and management service.  Drawing on 30 years of experience in event planning, marketing, public relations, and administration, Debbie has helped over 50 nonprofits raise nearly $20 million and published three successful books. Over a five year period, she previously wrote a monthly "Unsung Heroes" column for ScripType Publishing featuring random acts of kindness by area youth.  

    Her work has been featured in Currents of Cleveland's "Celebrating Women" issue and she was honored twice as a SHEro during the Women's Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation for making a difference in the lives of others. Debbie has been recognized as a "hidden gem" by Voyage Ohio magazine and featured by Bold Journey magazine as positive and uplifting. Her books have received positive reviews from readers, magazines, and newspapers throughout the United States and abroad. She recently received the "Change Maker" award from Love Akron (.org) for her work in making a positive difference in her community.

    She has served in leadership roles with organizations including the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce, KNOW of Akron, and The American Cancer Society. A graduate of Leadership Akron N.E.X.T., Debbie has also served on various community and church boards.

    Transitioning in 2025 as the founder of Time to Spare to the next generation, Debbie created Time To Shine. This new business includes helping clients learn best practices for managing time to obtain peace in every day, expanding connections, and interactive speaking sessions covering a variety of topics. Through individual or group conversations, Debbie works alongside clients as they find their own way to shine!

    A lifelong Ohio resident, Debbie is married to John Williams and enjoys traveling, bicycling, reading historical fiction, and cooking. Together, they have four adult daughters and two grandsons, who they cherish daily.

  • Dana McKinney is an experienced and well-versed leader specializing in organization, time management, and cross-collaboration. She is the owner of Time To Spare, LLC, an Ohio-based event management service. With proven experience as a project coordinator, she brings her wide breadth of knowledge to every Time to Spare client to ensure success. 

    Dana is a 2020 graduate of Kent State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, excelling with achievements and awards throughout her college experience. She was awarded the Wallace J. Hagedorn School of Visual Communication and Design Scholarship, was a member of the Kent State Provost’s Leadership Academy, and the recipient of President Barack Obama’s President’s Volunteer Service Award. She graduated as a member of the National Honors Society with a 3.8GPA from Revere High School serving as her class Vice President.

    Since a young age, she has assisted Time To Spare’s founder, Deborah McVay-Williams with planning and managing successful events for a variety of small, medium, and large business and not-for-profit organizations. Together, their work assisted more than 50 non-profit organizations in raising nearly $20 million combined through their annual fundraising efforts during that time.

    As the new owner of Time To Spare, Dana will expand services to include professional photography services and social media management. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office tools, and together with her time management, problem-solving, and strong communications skills, clients can confidently choose from a variety of packages, custom created to meet their event management needs. 

    Dana enjoys spending time with her fiancé and son, creating her thrifting finds into unique repurposed home furnishings, and seeking out local coffee shops.

    Dana’s joyful personality, creative spirit, and flexible range of skills will continue the Time To Spare tradition of   assisting others in making a lasting impression, while providing time to enjoy life!
